Colibrí — the Hummingbird
A spiral stair, two bedrooms above, a wide window where the forest comes in. The jacuzzi opens directly to the trees and the sound of the river below.
Two private cabins set against the Tenorio foothills — where the forest writes its own quiet, and the days unfold at their own pace.
Where the river writes its own quiet — and the mountain answers in kind.
Tucked three kilometres south of Liceo Katira in Guatuso, Río Brazo was born from a wish to show another side of this corner of Costa Rica — its hidden waters, its working land, the inheritance of a small town that has always known how to live well with very little.
Our two cabins, Colibrí and Morpho, are built for guests who want both — the rawness of the forest and the comforts of a thoughtful, well-kept home. A jacuzzi that opens onto the mountain. A cocina ready for a slow morning. Quiet that arrives without having to be earned.
Colibrí and Morpho share the same calm and the same standard of care — two private homes, each with its own balcony, its own jacuzzi, its own view of the forest.
A spiral stair, two bedrooms above, a wide window where the forest comes in. The jacuzzi opens directly to the trees and the sound of the river below.
The same plan, a different light. Morpho sits a little deeper in the trees — its mornings come slower, its evenings stretch longer, and its balcony is the kind you don't want to leave.
Tours we organize ourselves with trusted local guides. Once your cabin is booked, just ask. We'll walk you through options and details.
A morning walk through the working fields with the people who grow them. Tastings, a little history, fresh juice at the end.
A guided walk through nearby forest paths, ending with a tasting of artisan cacao made by local hands.
Down the Río Celeste on a slow, glassy ride. Cool water, the canopy overhead, an hour and a half of quiet.
Guatuso sits at the northern foot of Tenorio Volcano — a corner of Alajuela where most people pass through on their way somewhere else. That's part of why we love it. The cabins are three kilometres south of Liceo Katira, on a piece of land where the river bends quietly through the trees.
A spot to come back to. We slept with the river outside the window and woke up forgetting what day it was. Everything was thought through, nothing felt staged.
Reservations are confirmed by WhatsApp — a short message, a few questions about your dates, and we'll hold the cabin for you. Stay three nights or more, and we'll take fifty dollars off each additional night.
